I guess this is the million dollar question. 99 percent of people get online in hopes to get rich overnight and quit their day job.
Now I’m not saying you can’t get rich overnight online, because I know people that have. The key is preparation to success online is preparation and knowledge. I can’t or anyone for that matter tell you what you should your money on without knowing your prior knowledge.
If you are starting out I recommend you do what I did. Go to ever possible forum and blog related to making money online and affiliate marketing. Mostly everyone in this forums will be glad to help you and best of all its free. I personally would stay away from ebooks since 99 percent are a bunch of shit. I didnt make any money online my first 6 months, so if you like to give up easily then this is not the business for you.

The important thing is making sure you have enough money to cover at least all costs for a year (hosting / domain / advertising / staff etc) because the main reason why things fail is people giving up. People don’t know that it takes time to get indexed in Google / DMOZ etc which is very important if it comes to success. 90% of all people fail because they run out of money or because they give up after 1 or 2 months as they think “I didn’t make much yet so I better give up already”

It’s not really that little. I might make a gamble, or save up a bit - I hope that doesn’t count as giving up. =P
I’ve heard that the number of fails with starting a web hosting site is quite high.
